What is depression?
Feelings down from time to time is a normal part of life but when emotions such as hopelessness and despair and just won’t go away, you may have depression. Depression is a term often used loosely to describe how we feel after a bad week at work and when we are going through a breakup. But the major depressive disorder a type of unhappiness that is much more complicated. Mostly feel sad, lonely, or depressed at times. It’s a normal reaction to the loss of life’s struggles and injured self-esteem. But when these signs of depression feelings become overwhelming, cause physical symptoms, and last for a long period of time, and they can keep you from leading a normal active life. Depression can interfere with your ability to work, eat, drinking, study, sleep, and enjoy life.
While some people describe depression as “living in a black hole “or having a feeling of impending doom, others feel lifeless and empty. There are some major signs of depression.

A bleak outlook nothing will never get batter and there’s nothing you can do to improve your situation.

You don’t care about former hobbies, pastimes, social activities, and sex. You have lost your abilities to feel joy and pleasure.

Important weight loss and weight gain, a change of more than 5% of body weight in a month.

Either insomnia, especially waking in the early hours of the morning and over sleepless.

Feeling upset, restless, and even violent. Your tolerance level is low, and everything and everyone gets on your nerves.

Feeling fatigued, sluggish, and physically drained. Your whole body may feel heavy, and even small tasks are exhausting and take longer to complete.

Strong feelings of worthlessness and guilt. You hardly criticized yourself for perceived faults and mistakes.

You engage in escapist behavior. Such as substance abuse.

Trouble focusing, making decisions and remembering things.

An increase in physical complaints such as , back pain aching muscles, and stomach pain.
Depression and suicide risk:
Depression is a major factor in suicide. The deep despair and hopelessness that goes along with depression that can make suicide feel like the only way to escape the pain. If you have a loved one with depression take any suicidal talking and behavior seriously. And watch some warning signs,
- Talking about harming and killing someone.
- Expressing strong feelings of helplessness and being trapped
- An unusual preoccupation with death and dying
- Acting carelessly, if they have a death wish
- Calling or visiting people to say goodbye
- Saying everyone would be better than off without me and I want out.
